Suwassett Garden Club presents Visions of Port Jefferson a Standard Flower Show staged in accordance with the standards of the National Garden Clubs, Inc. All judging of exhibits will conform to the definitions and Scale of Points in the Handbook for Flower Shows, 2007 Revised Edition.

Viticulture display with live worms..

Gardencoach volunteers Jay Wolstoff & Laurie Donnelly create an educational Exhibit that focuses on Composting and Container Gardening. Over 60 % of our Nations Landfulls are food, yard and paper waste that can be composted and returned to our gardens as fertilizer.A hands on Compost display includes informational handouts, samples of good and bad compost as well as samples of things that should not be composted. A  live Vitaculture Compost display shows live worms turning kitchen scraps into useable compost all year long.

 A Power point presentation details everything you wanted to know about Container Gardening.A Table top display  features a timer based Drip Irrigation system as a way to conserve water and reduce water borne diseases.

Lois, from the Port Jefferson Garden Club introduces Jay Wolstoff and Laurie Donnelly who are giving a presentation on Container Gardening.

 The Port Jefferson garden club meets at the Belle Terre community house in the village of Belle Terre. 

The Shoreham Garden club meets in the Shoreham Country club on woodville road. Shelia Sussman, hands out the minutes of their last meeting and the topics for todays meeting. Jay Wolstoff seated front left waits to give his presentation on Your Guide to Seaside Gardening.

Bud, talks to the Shoreham Garden Club about the very first Shoreham Garden Club  meeting. Way Back in 1929, Bud was working on his home and a couple of gals from the village admired his garden and asked Bud if he would like to come to a meeting to chat about gardening which was the beginging of the Shoreham Garden club.

Mt. Sinai Garden Club's April meeting has changed to April 16th!

 

Join us!  Melissa Kurtz will give a short talk on seed starting.

 

We will also have time for plant/seed swap and for

discussion of ideas and questions that have sprouted

as we begin working on our gardens

 

If you have any 4-8 inch pots you can donate to the High School Gardening club, please bring them too.

They have seedlings in need of transplanting

 

The place and time are the same: Heritage park, 7 pm

The company will be the same too:  in other words….great!
