FEBRUARY 2009 TRIP TO FARMINGDALE COLLEGE GREENHOUSES.







Amy,  GREENHOUSE DIRECTOR EXPLAINS THE METHOD OF PROPAGATING BEGONIA SEEDS.


Amy,with blue jacket, points out the different plants that are being propagated in greenhouse one. All watering is done by hand.

Our group gathers around Amy,greenhouse dirctor as she explains what is going on for the month of Feb.

Colieus cuttings are being readied for the display gardens at the college.

There are numerous Succulents coming into bloom.

AFTER 24     HOURS OF TOURING LONGWOOD GARDENS WE WERE UNABLE TO FIND A SINGLE WEED.



Yes they are real! The small pad is about three days old-the larger pads are about 3 weeks old.

These lily pads are alive and quite spectactular!





Topiary plants  take on a whole new look.


Susan and her husband David enjoy the topiary garden.
